Plaster cast of the beach


I believe these tracks on Shelley Beach at Exmouth were made by the common whelk. Superimposed on the undulations in the sand created by the fast running outgoing tide they provided a challenge for the plaster cast. The result is shown below.


The frilled edges are reminiscent of the foam at the edge of a wave. Sand and a shell have adhered to the plaster which adds a sense of place.
