AROUND THE SOUND

Rhizome Artists’ Collective are taking over the wonderful gallery/events space at Grow Plymouth on Drake’s Circus next to The Box, Plymouth.

The theme of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park was perfect, reflecting on the connections between people and nature, our relationship with the wonderful scenery and watery playground on our doorstep, and environmental issues.

Open to the public on Thur 27, Sat 29 and Sun 30 July, visitors will be able to add to the work on the walls, with words, drawings, Matisse-style cut-outs, and projection. Learn how to make your own projector from a cardboard box and the flashlight on a mobile phone, then take a selfie in your own artwork!

UPDATE: The project was a resounding success, with young and old taking part in celebrating Plymouth Sound, creating images and words for our walls, posing in the projections of their own art works, and networking.

A rapidly scribbled artwork and hey-presto: he’s wearing it!

Quote from one visitor: “Great to see such a vibrant group show buzzing with ideas. More please!”

So watch this space! Grow Plymouth may have us back…

Thank you to Jordanna and Reuben for making us so welcome.
